Deltarune Chapter 5 ("Festival Day") is the latest chapter in Toby Fox's parallel story to Undertale. After the events of Chapter 4, Hometown is celebrating its grand festival. But when Kris opens a Dark Fountain inside Asgore's flower shop, Kris, Susie, and Noelle are dragged into the Flower Kingdom — a vibrant Dark World ruled by the mysterious Flowery (a twisted reflection of Asgore's past).

1. Hometown: The Festival Grounds

Before entering the Dark World, Chapter 5 opens on a bright Saturday morning in Hometown during the town's annual festival.

Warm the Toast: The chapter starts in Kris's bedroom. Toriel asks you to help with breakfast. Head to the kitchen and interact with the toaster; wait for it to finish automatically (don't mash). Kris adds honey on their own.
- Note: The toast's burnt level changes Toriel's dialogue slightly, but any choice has no story branch impact.
Gather the Party: Walk south into Hometown. You will run into Noelle and Susie. Talk to them so they join your party.
Explore the Beach: Go further east past the festival booths to the shoreline. Interact with the water for a heartwarming cutscene between Susie and Noelle about the horizon.
Visit Asgore's Flower Shop: Enter Asgore's shop. Noelle will buy flowers and leave first. Susie then decides she wants to buy flowers too.
The Fountain Opens: In a dramatic sequence, Kris removes their SOUL and slashes the ground, opening a Dark Fountain in the middle of the flower shop, dragging Kris and Susie into the Dark World.

2. Entering the Dark World

You wake up in a colorful Dark World filled with giant glowing flower buds, garden shears, and golden pollen.

The Wardrobe Puzzle: You find a room with four locked wardrobes. Interacting with the first three gives funny flavor text (Susie's voice comes from one, Noelle's from another).
Ralsei's Return: Open the fourth wardrobe. Ralsei pops out!
The Flower Costume: Flowery makes his entrance and drops Ralsei's classic Chapter 1 green cloak and hat on his head, saying Ralsei looks "better this way." Ralsei's sprite reverts to his hooded look.
Your Mission: Ralsei warns that the Roaring Knight is hunting Asgore, who is trapped deeper in the shop's Dark World. Your objective is to reach the center of the garden before the Knight does.

3. The Garden of Dreams: Flowery's Realm

The Garden of Dreams is the first major zone — a beautiful field of honey streams and massive sunflowers, mirroring Chapter 1's Field of Hopes and Dreams but themed around flowers, honey, and garden tools.

💡 Pacifist tip: Sparing every enemy in each zone recruits them to Castle Town. Carry the Spin Cake and talk to NPCs there for bonus content.

4. Chapter 5 Key Puzzle Solutions

Chapter 5 introduces light- and water-based mechanics. Here are the two major progression-blocking puzzles.

The Blossom Gate Puzzle (花卉大门密码)

Near the honeycomb maze you find a massive gate blocked by red, yellow, and blue vines, with three colored flower pressure plates in front of it.

Clue: Watch the background bees. They land on the giant flowers in a repeating pattern.
Solution: Step on the plates in this exact order: Yellow ➔ Blue ➔ Red.

The Watering Can Maze (洒水壶迷宫)

Stone watering cans tilt back and forth, pouring rain droplets onto the paths. If a droplet hits your SOUL, you are washed back to the start.

Solution: Put Susie in the lead, activate her Shield ACT, and walk slowly behind her shield to block the falling droplets as you cross the wet bridges.

5. The Cliffs & Flower Castle

After the Garden of Dreams, the chapter progresses through two more major regions.

The Cliffs (悬崖区域)

A vertical cliffside area with waterfalls and moving flower platforms (Petal Feathers).
Hidden content: Behind the waterfall on the left wall is a Pink Coin (relevant to the secret boss — see Section 7). The Cliffs Shop here is also where you buy the Mystery Key.
Climb via vines and watch for the stone arch, which hides another secret.

Flower Castle (城堡)

Flowery's lair, divided into several wings:

Castle East & West: Filled with rotating sunflower platforms, mini-bosses (like Seth), and puzzle rooms (wall bars, water-wheel puzzle). Explore thoroughly — most chests hold unique weapons and armor.
Top of Castle: The final stretch before the Dark Fountain. This is also where the secret boss door is hidden — at the top fork, take the left path (ignoring Ralsei's warning) to reach the Pink Door.
Boss Arena: The right path at the top fork leads to the Heart of the Conservatory, where the Flowery boss fight takes place.

6. Boss Strategy: Flowery (Multi-Phase)

Flowery is the main boss of Chapter 5, encountered at the Top of Flower Castle. The fight is multi-phase and notably tough — many players take 10–15 attempts. The key is balancing HP and TP, since you need TP to ACT and progress through the phases.

Attack Phases

Phase 1 (Vine Whip / 藤鞭横扫): Fast-moving green vine lines sweep vertically and horizontally. Stay near the center of the box and micro-dodge — the hitbox is slightly smaller than the line itself.
Phase 2 (Petal Rain / 落英缤纷): Giant red petals slowly fall from the sky, tracking Kris's horizontal position. Move in a smooth figure-8 to guide the petals away from the center.
Phase 3 (Pollen Allies / 花粉盟友): Allied entities appear that cannot be targeted by ACT. Use Susie's Rude Buster plus normal sword attacks to clear them.
Phase 6 (Solo Duo): Eventually Kris and Susie are left to battle Flowery alone. Gather 40 TP, then use the ACT Susie's Idea to quickly advance past this phase.

How to Spare Flowery (Pacifist / Mercy Route)

Do not attack — the fight is won by filling Flowery's Mercy meter, not by depleting HP.

Have Kris use the ACT Reminisce (回忆往事) to talk about Asgore's flower shop and the golden flowers. This reduces Flowery's attack power and raises his Mercy meter by 25% per turn.
Survive each attack phase while building TP (Defend regularly).
When the meter hits 100%, use Ralsei's Pacify or select Spare.
Reward: Flowery is recruited to Castle Town and opens a brand-new Florist Shop.

⚠️ Why the fight is framed oddly: Flowery is presented almost as the "protagonist" of the encounter — he uses the power of friendship and even tries to fill your meter. Lean into the ACT/Spare flow rather than brute-forcing with FIGHT.

7. Secret Boss: Pink (Shadow Crystal)

Every chapter hides a secret boss. Chapter 5's hidden challenger is Pink — the Dark World form of the Mew Mew Kissy Cutie doll from Toriel's living room, possessed by a Lightner's ghost. She is the final Shadow Crystal holder.

How to Reach Pink (Summary)

Collect Pink Coins: Gather at least 10 Pink Coins (19 are hidden across the Garden, Cliffs, and Flower Castle in pink chests and pink bells).
Buy the Mystery Key (神秘钥匙): Travel to the Cliffs Shop. The Mystery Key appears in the shop's second tab once you carry 10+ Pink Coins. It costs 10 Pink Coins (not regular gold), and is bought inside the Dark World — no need to return to Hometown.
Reach the Pink Door: At the Top of Flower Castle, take the left path at the fork (Ralsei will warn you the fountain is the other way — ignore him). Drop into the pit and follow the corridor to the locked Pink Door. Use the Mystery Key to open it.
Survive the Flower Petal Bridge gauntlet (the chapter's only mandatory platforming section), then enter the arena.

The Fight: Doki Meter (Not Regular Damage)

Pink's battle runs on a unique system — you cannot defeat her with regular attacks. FIGHT always reads "MISS." Instead:

Fill the Doki Meter (right side of screen) to 100% using specific ACTs: Kris's Flirt / MegaFlirt, Susie's Flirt / Rude Flirt, Ralsei's Charm.
Build TP by collecting pink hearts that spawn during her attack phases.
The meter never decreases, so as long as you survive, you will eventually win.

Reward: A Shadow Crystal (Chapter 5's entry in the cross-chapter collection — notably a pale-pink outlier) plus a piece of exclusive high-Magic-Defense equipment.

✅ Pacifist-safe: Pink's fight is fully isolated from route flags — it does not increment your FIGHT counter and can be done on any route.

8. Egg, Weird Route & Other Secrets

The Egg

In the area right before the Flowery boss fight, walk behind the giant sunflower on the left side of the screen. If conditions are right, the screen transitions to a silent room with a single tree. Interact with the tree to receive the Egg from the mysterious Forgotten Man — part of the cross-chapter Egg collection in Hometown.

The Weird Route (Alternative Dark Path)

Like Chapter 2's Snowgrave Route, Chapter 5 has a hidden alternative path with a completely altered, darker outcome.

Prerequisite: You must have completed the Weird Route in both Chapter 2 AND Chapter 4 on the same save.
When the conditions are met, the chapter opens abnormally: Kris cannot get out of bed normally, there's a red spot on the screen, and Noelle whispers "THANK YOU."
The route skips the entire Dark World and ends on a "INSERT CHAPTER 7 SIDE B" cliffhanger.

⚠️ Warning: This is an irreversible, very dark path. Only attempt it if you want the alternative story — for a standard playthrough, use the Pacifist Route.

Carry-Over Notes

Your inventory, recruits, Shadow Crystals, and key decisions from Chapters 1–4 all transfer in via your save file.
Items equipped at the chapter's end carry into the next chapter's starting loadout — equip Pink's best gear before triggering the Dark Fountain ending.

How many endings does Chapter 5 have?

There is one main (Pacifist) ending. The Weird Route leads to a completely altered, darker outcome that skips the Dark World entirely.

Can I recruit Flowery?

Yes. Spare Flowery via the Mercy route (Kris's Reminisce ACT) and he will be recruited to Castle Town, where he opens a Florist Shop.

Is Pink required for 100%?

Yes. Defeating Pink grants the Shadow Crystal (part of the cross-chapter collection) and unlocks her unique Castle Town content. The fight is Pacifist-safe and does not affect your route.

Where do I find the Egg?

Is Chapter 5 free?

Yes, if you already own the game. Chapter 5 was released on June 24, 2026 as a free update for all players who owned the base game (Chapters 1–4).
