How to Beat Pink: Deltarune Chapter 5 Secret Boss Guide
π Last Updated: June 27, 2026 β οΈ Spoiler Warning: This guide covers Chapter 5's secret boss in full detail. First-timers should complete the main story first β check the Chapter 5 Full Walkthrough before reading on.
Every chapter of Deltarune hides a secret boss: Jevil in Chapter 1, Spamton NEO in Chapter 2. Chapter 5's hidden challenger is Pink β the Dark World incarnation of Mad Mew Mew, now a sentient combat doll who wants to feel emotions through a fight she can never seem to win.
Unlike every other boss in the game, you cannot defeat Pink with regular attacks. The battle runs on a completely separate system called the Doki Meter. This guide covers everything you need: all 19 Pink Coin locations, buying the Mystery Key, surviving the platforming gauntlet, and filling the Doki Meter to win.

Part 1: Prerequisites & Who Is Pink?
Who Is Pink?
Pink (γγ³γ―) is the Dark World form of the Mew Mew Kissy Cutie doll from Toriel's living room β the same plushie Susie was obsessed with in earlier chapters. In the Flower King's Dark World, she has been possessed by a ghost Lightner and gained sentience, but has no way to process real emotion. She challenges your party hoping that a real battle will finally let her feel something.
What You Need
- β Be inside Chapter 5's Dark World (the Flower King's realm)
- β At least 10 Pink Coins (19 are available β see Part 2)
- β Have reached the Cliffs area at least once to unlock the shop there
- β Not required: finishing the Flowery main boss first. You can fight Pink before or after Flowery.
Pacifist Note: Fighting Pink does not affect your Pacifist Route. Her battle is mechanically isolated from the standard FIGHT/ACT/SPARE tracking system β you cannot harm her with violence even if you try, and your FIGHT count is not incremented.
Part 2: All 19 Pink Coin Locations
You only need 10 Pink Coins to buy the Mystery Key, but there are 19 total across Chapter 5. Pink Coins come from two sources:
- Pink Chests β visually distinct pink treasure boxes
- Pink Bells β decorative bells; hit them with your sword to release a coin
The table below lists coins in the order you naturally encounter them on a standard playthrough.
π‘ Tip: Pink Coins do not carry over to a new save file. Collect them all in a single run if aiming for 100%.
Garden of Dreams (θ±ζ’¦θ±ε) β 6 Coins
| # | Location | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Just past the first honey bridge, above the first Floradinn encounter | Pink Chest |
| 2 | Hidden in the sunflower patch to the far left of the Blossom Gate | Pink Bell (hit with sword) |
| 3 | Inside the beehive structure, after the first Honey-Bee fight | Pink Chest |
| 4 | On the rooftop of the Garden Greenhouse β use the vine rope to climb up | Pink Bell |
| 5 | In the small alcove behind the Blossom Gate (accessible after solving the puzzle) | Pink Chest |
| 6 | Dropped by a Floradinn who requests you press a specific flower to "flatten" it β agree | Interaction |
The Cliffs (ζ¬ε΄εΊε) β 5 Coins
| # | Location | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 7 | Immediately at the Cliffs entrance, behind the waterfall on the left wall | Pink Bell |
| 8 | First Petal Feather platforming section β land on the far-right platform | Pink Chest |
| 9 | Second Petal Feather section β collect the coin mid-air between two moving flower pads | Pink Bell |
| 10 | Inside the Cliffs cave, in the room directly before the shop | Pink Chest |
| 11 | On top of the stone arch at the Cliffs midpoint β reach it via vine climbing | Pink Chest |
Flower Castle East (δΈεε ‘) β 4 Coins
| # | Location | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 12 | First room of Castle East, behind the giant petal door | Pink Bell |
| 13 | Room with rotating sunflower platforms β on the farthest platform | Pink Chest |
| 14 | Behind the Seth mini-boss encounter room (accessible after the fight) | Pink Chest |
| 15 | Dropped by a Shinobeetle only if spared, not if fought | Spare reward |

| # | Location | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 16 | West wing entrance hall, behind the first pillar on the right | Pink Bell |
| 17 | Room with the water-wheel puzzle β beneath the wheel itself | Pink Chest |
| 18 | Narrow ledge in the Top of Castle area β approach from the left side only | Pink Chest |
| 19 | Given by Ralsei after completing the optional "Castle Garden" side quest in Castle Town | Interaction |
Part 3: Buying the Mystery Key
Once you have at least 10 Pink Coins:
- Travel to the Cliffs area. Use the magic fast-travel door if unlocked; select "Cliffs" from the menu.
- Enter the Cliffs Shop, run by a tall Darkner in a gardening hat.
- The Mystery Key (η₯η§ι₯ε) appears in the shop's second tab β it will not appear unless you carry 10+ Pink Coins.
- Purchase it for 10 Pink Coins. Your regular gold is untouched.
The Mystery Key is a Dark World Key Item. You do not need to return to the overworld before using it.
Part 4: Reaching the Pink Door
Getting to the Top of the Castle
Make your way to the Top of Castle zone β the final stretch of the chapter before the Dark Fountain ending.
At the very top, you reach a fork:
- Right path β leads to the Dark Fountain (normal story ending)
- Left path β leads to the Pink Door
Take the left path. Ralsei will say "Kris, the fountain is the other way!" β ignore him and continue left. Drop into the pit and follow the corridor to the locked pink door. Use the Mystery Key to open it.
Platforming Gauntlet: Flower Petal Bridge (θ±η£ι£ζΈ‘)
This is the only mandatory platforming section in Chapter 5:
- Use your sword to bounce off moving flower platforms β press the Action button in mid-air when adjacent to a flower pad.
- Falling deals a small amount of damage and resets you to the beginning of the section. It is not a significant penalty, but damage accumulates across repeated falls.
- The rhythm: bounce β hold still β bounce β short sprint β final leap. Timing becomes natural after 2β3 attempts.
- There is no mid-section checkpoint, but the section spans roughly 12β15 platforms and is short.
At the end of the gauntlet is a door with a pink heart emblem. Walk through to enter the arena.
Part 5: The Fight β Doki Meter Guide
How This Fight Works
Pink's fight operates on an entirely different system from every other Deltarune boss:
| Standard Boss | Pink's Fight |
|---|---|
| Deal damage with FIGHT | β FIGHT does nothing (always MISS) |
| Build Mercy % with ACT | β Fill the Doki Meter with ACT |
| Win at 0 HP or 100% Mercy | β Win when Doki Meter hits 100% |
The Doki Meter is displayed on the right side of the screen and fills up when you use specific ACT commands. Crucially, the meter never decreases β even if you struggle with dodging, you will eventually win as long as you survive.
TP Economy
TP is your resource for ACT commands. In Pink's fight, you build TP by collecting pink hearts that appear in the bullet board during her attack phases β not through standard TP generation.
| TP Source | Gain |
|---|---|
| Small pink heart (common) | +8 TP |
| Large pink heart (rare, glowing) | +20 TP |
| Susie: DEFEND command | +10 TP |
| Ralsei: DREAM command | +15 TP + minor HP heal |
Priority: Collect as many pink hearts as possible every attack phase. Efficient heart collection is more valuable than perfect dodging.
ACT Commands & Doki Meter Values
| Character | ACT | Doki Fill | TP Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kris | Flirt (ζ©ζ¨) | +10% | 25 TP |
| Kris | MegaFlirt (倧ζ©ζ¨) | +25% | 60 TP |
| Susie | Flirt (ζ©ζ¨) | +10% | 25 TP |
| Susie | Rude Flirt (η²ζ΄ζ©ζ¨) | +15% | 35 TP |
| Ralsei | Charm (ι
ζ) | +8% | 20 TP |
Fastest-win strategy: Spend 1 turn building TP (Susie DEFEND + Ralsei DREAM = +25 TP, plus hearts), then use Kris MegaFlirt + Susie Rude Flirt for +40% Doki Meter in one turn. Two of these double-turns clears the meter in about 5 turns total.
Attack Phases & Dodge Guide
Pink cycles through 4 attack patterns regardless of how full the Doki Meter is. The patterns loop continuously and do not escalate based on meter progress β only Attack 4 has an unlock condition.
Attack 1: Heart Rain (η±εΏι¨)
- What happens: Dozens of small hearts fall from above. White hearts are safe and give TP; pink hearts with a red X deal damage.
- Pattern: Damaging hearts always fall in groups of 3, with a clear gap between each cluster.
- Strategy: Move in slow horizontal sweeps across the bottom of the board, collecting white hearts and passing through the gaps between clusters. Avoid large vertical movement.
Attack 2: Spinning Ribbon (ζ转δΈεΈ¦)
- What happens: A long pink ribbon spirals outward from Pink's position toward your SOUL.
- Pattern: The ribbon always rotates clockwise, pausing briefly at each quarter-turn.
- Strategy: Move counter-clockwise just ahead of the ribbon's leading edge. Use the pauses to collect any nearby TP hearts without repositioning too aggressively.
Attack 3: Cutie Laser (ε‘εδΌζΏε )
- What happens: Pink charges a wide laser across the bottom third of the screen, then the top third.
- Pattern: Always bottom β top, with a 1.5-second pause between the two beams.
- Strategy: Position in the center zone (the middle third) during the bottom beam β this zone is safe for both shots. Drop briefly to collect any hearts that appear at the bottom before the top beam fires.
Attack 4: Doll Army (εΈεΆε€§ε) β unlocks after Doki Meter reaches 50%
- What happens: Miniature copies of Pink flood the screen from both sides simultaneously.
- Pattern: Copies from the left have 2 SOUL-widths of spacing; copies from the right have 3 widths of spacing.
- Strategy: Move to the right side of the screen and weave through the wider right-side gaps. This attack also spawns the most large pink hearts β it is the best TP-farming phase in the fight.
What Happens If You Choose FIGHT?
FIGHT animations play normally, but the damage always reads "MISS" regardless of your weapon or stats. Pink acknowledges it in her in-battle dialogue ("You can't hurt me from the outside"). Using FIGHT does not affect the Doki Meter, does not break Pacifist status, and simply wastes a turn. The fight ends normally once the meter reaches 100%.
Part 6: Rewards & Post-Fight Content
Immediate Rewards
After the Doki Meter reaches 100%, Pink has a short cutscene β she has a surprisingly moving monologue about learning what it feels like to almost lose. Susie calls her "kinda cool for a doll."
You receive two items:
1. Shadow Crystal (ζε½±ζ°΄ζΆ) Added to your Key Items. This is Chapter 5's entry in the series-spanning Shadow Crystal collection. It glows pale pink rather than the deep purple of earlier chapters β the only visual outlier in the set.
2. Unique Equipment Drop Pink drops a piece of exclusive gear. The item always carries the highest Magic Defense of any equippable in Chapter 5, plus a secondary stat that scales to your party's highest-leveled character. The item name varies by party composition:
| Highest-Leveled Character | Item Name |
|---|---|
| Kris | Warden's Petal Brooch |
| Susie | Fang-Bloom Pendant |
| Ralsei | Whisper Circlet |
All three share the same base Magic Defense stat; only the secondary bonus differs.
Carry-over note: Based on Chapter 4's precedent, items equipped at the chapter's end carry into the next chapter's starting loadout. Equip Pink's gear before triggering the Dark Fountain ending.
Castle Town Changes
After the fight, Pink appears in Castle Town on a bench near the east fountain. She has unique dialogue on each return visit β tracked separately from other Darkner recruitment.
Additionally:
- A Mew Mew Kissy Cutie merch stall opens near Pink's bench, run by a small Darkner. It sells a pink ribbon cosmetic that alters Kris's overworld sprite.
- Ralsei comments on Pink's arrival with a short optional scene the next time you speak to him.
Shadow Crystal Series β Current Status
| Chapter | Secret Boss | Crystal Color |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Jevil | Deep purple |
| 2 | Spamton NEO | Deep purple |
| 3 | (community still verifying) | Deep purple |
| 4 | (community still verifying) | Deep purple |
| 5 | Pink | Pale pink β outlier |
The pale-pink outlier and the shared leitmotif in all Shadow Crystal boss themes suggest these items are building toward a convergence in a future chapter. No in-game text confirms this yet.
β FAQ: Pink Boss Questions Answered
Q1: Can I fight Pink after finishing the Chapter 5 main story?
Yes. The Pink Door and Mystery Key remain accessible after the Dark Fountain ending cutscene, as long as you are still on the Chapter 5 save. The chapter does not lock optional content after the main ending.
Q2: What if I missed some Pink Coins? Can I still get enough?
Yes. With 19 coins available and only 10 needed, you can miss up to 9 coins and still buy the key. If you are short after reaching the Cliffs Shop, backtrack to the Garden of Dreams β Coin #5 (behind the Blossom Gate) and Coin #2 (sunflower patch bell) are the two most commonly missed on first pass.
Q3: Is fighting Pink required for Pacifist or 100% completion?
No story achievement requires defeating Pink. However, the Shadow Crystal she drops is part of the complete series-spanning collection, and her unique Castle Town content (bench dialogue, merch stall) does not appear unless she is defeated. True 100% requires her.
Q4: Does the Doki Meter reset between attempts if I game-over?
No. The Doki Meter does not persist across game-overs β it resets to 0% when you retry from the Pink arena entrance. However, your Pink Coins and Mystery Key are not consumed even if you die; those are permanent inventory items.
Q5: Does fighting Pink affect Weird Route or Pacifist Route flags?
No. Pink's fight is fully isolated from all route-tracking flags. It does not increment your FIGHT counter, does not affect Noelle or Susie relationship values, and does not touch the Weird Route state. Fight her freely on any route.
Q6: The Doki Meter isn't moving β what's wrong?
The meter only responds to these specific ACT commands: Flirt, MegaFlirt (Kris), Flirt, Rude Flirt (Susie), and Charm (Ralsei). Other commands like Check, Hum, or Spare have no effect. If you cannot afford the TP cost, spend one turn collecting pink hearts from her attacks and using Susie DEFEND or Ralsei DREAM to build TP first.
Q7: Are there any differences in Pink's fight on a second playthrough?
On a New Game+ or post-defeat revisit, Pink's opening dialogue changes to reference your previous encounter. Her attack patterns and Doki Meter mechanics remain identical, but all four attack phases are active from the start of the fight β Attack 4 (Doll Army) is no longer gated behind the 50% milestone.
