1. The TV Dark World & Tenna's Game Show

  1. Living Room to Dark World: After the events of Chapter 2, Kris and Susie fall asleep in front of the TV. A Dark Fountain is opened inside it, pulling them into the TV Dark World.
  2. Meet Tenna: The TV's Darkner form, Tenna, hosts the world as a game show. You progress through "Rounds" — each is a themed game-show level.
  3. Rounds & Boards: The chapter is structured around Round One and Round Two (Board Two), each with their own puzzles, enemies, and a score counter.

Key tip — the "Sword Route": During the chapter you can choose a sword route that massively increases Kris's basic attack damage. This is highly recommended, as it makes both the Tenna fight and the secret boss much more manageable.

2. The Four Keys & Grand Photos

The TV World is full of collectibles that gate the secret content. Track down all of these:

  • The Four Keys: Scattered across Rounds One and Two. Some are hidden in secret rooms; one (the Ice Key) comes from a hidden minigame.
  • Grand Photos: Special photo collectibles found in secret rooms — required for 100% completion.
  • Passcodes: Several locked doors require numeric passcodes found by exploring each Round fully.
  • Shadow Mantle: A key item that, combined with S-Rank progress, unlocks the secret boss.

💡 S-Rank tip: To reach the secret boss, you must earn S-Rank scores in the game-show Rounds. Either achieve S-Rank on your first attempt, or purchase the rank from an NPC south of the area if you fall short.

3. Main Boss: Tenna

Tenna is the chapter's main antagonist and the host of the TV Dark World's game show.

  • Phase 1: Tenna attacks with broadcast-themed projectiles — TV signals, static bursts, and stage props. Keep moving and dodge through the gaps.
  • Tenna's Legendary Crashout: A dramatic mid-fight phase where Tenna loses composure and the attacks become chaotic and fast. Prioritize survival; heal with Ralsei's Heal Prayer and Defend to build TP.
  • How to Spare Tenna: Fill the Mercy bar using ACT commands (specifically dialogue/action ACTs related to the show). Once full, choose Spare to recruit Tenna to Castle Town.
  • Sword Route Advantage: If you took the sword route, Kris's boosted attacks shorten the fight significantly.

4. Secret Boss (S-Rank Room)

Chapter 3's secret boss is notably more complicated to reach than previous chapters' hidden bosses. It is located at the very end of the chapter, even after the final boss — but reaching it requires preparation throughout the whole chapter.

Step 1 — Earn an S-Rank

Achieve S-Rank on Round One (either first-try or purchased from the NPC south of the area). S-Rank is the gateway to the secret boss room.

Step 2 — Collect the Required Items

Gather the Shadow Mantle and the relevant key items (the four keys / Ice Key). These are needed to fully unlock the secret path.

Step 3 — Enter the S-Rank Room

After earning S-Rank, go to the top-left of the S-Rank Room. Talk to the NPC standing in front of the door there. This opens the path to the secret boss encounter.

Step 4 — Defeat the Secret Boss

Head south from the building entrance, turn east at the intersection, and keep going south to reach the boss arena.

Fight Strategy:

  • Bring full healing items — this boss is one of the hardest in the series.
  • Constantly attack with Kris and use Susie's Rude Buster for the best damage output.
  • Defend frequently to manage TP and survive the boss's multi-stage attack patterns.
  • Reward: Defeating the secret boss grants a Shadow Crystal, continuing the cross-chapter collection.

5. Roaring Knight Final Boss

The Roaring Knight is the chapter's true final boss and the long-awaited first on-screen appearance of the series' overarching antagonist. This is a story-critical encounter unlocked after the main game.

  • Trigger: Reach the chapter's finale after completing the core Rounds. The Roaring Knight confrontation is woven into the climax.
  • Strategy: Constantly attack with Kris (especially strong if on the sword route) and use Susie's Rude Buster every turn. Keep HP topped at all times — the Roaring Knight's attacks are relentless and hit hard.
  • Outcome: This fight sets up the escalating conflict for Chapter 4 and beyond.

❓ FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Is the secret boss missable?

It is found at the very end of the chapter, even after the final boss, and is hard to miss if you meet the S-Rank and item requirements. If you skip S-Rank entirely, you can still buy it from the NPC south of the area.

What does the Shadow Mantle do?

The Shadow Mantle is a key item required (alongside S-Rank progress) to unlock the secret boss. Without it, the door in the S-Rank Room won't open.

Should I take the sword route?

Strongly recommended. The sword route massively increases Kris's basic attack damage, making the Tenna fight, the secret boss, and the Roaring Knight significantly easier.

Do Chapter 3 choices carry to Chapter 4?

Yes. Your recruits, whether you spared Tenna, and the secret boss outcome all transfer via your save file.
